Are you connecting to the light of the world?

Are you connecting to the light of the world?
Are you connecting to the light of the world?

From May 19th to 22nd, I went to Eckhart Tolle’s 4 days of retreat. I knew him from Oprah’s interview 15 years ago and have attended his ten weeks online seminar for a new earth since 2008. It was very different seeing him in person this year. He seems ever so more settled in his beingness, and from that beingness, more deeply connected to being in joy.

Eckhart provides an atmosphere of peace and space for me when watching him online. His presence passes through the screen and penetrates through space to help my awareness go deeper. However, joining him in person made me immerse more deeply in the silence of connection. It might also because I just came back from Ecurdor and the rainforest (will write more about that later). I realized that when I connected to my heart in his presence, that I felt sparks and bursts of joy.

I will Share couple of sentences of what I really enjoyed:

  1. When the mind stopped in a moment with no decrease in consciousness but with a deepening the awareness. You could sense the presence both within and with out. Later on you will realize it is all within.
  2. Do not randomly go to your pocket to reach your phone unless there is a purpose to engage. Notice the habit of reaching for the phone when you are trying to avoid some emotions, like frustration, or having no emotion, like being bored.
  3. There are two level of understandings. First level is in your head, the conceptual understanding. The second level is through your awareness, and you know it through consciousness.
  4. Deepen the deeper I. When things go wrong, it is the moment to become more consciousness. With even the smallest thing, don’t react out of conditional habituation, but be aware. If there is the anxiety, know the fear is in you, know that you are feeling the angry, not that the anger is you. Slowly shift from I feel anger to there is anger in me. Some people are so identified with their opinions and do not realize that their sense of identity derived from their ideas. People all have opinions, but do those thoughts give you a sense of self? If so, then you will continuously argue with someone else because the people do not agree with you and become your enemy. When you identify with those concepts you thought the others do not agree with you do not admit or recognize who you are. You thought they are attacking you. Your real identity is not coming from the moving thoughts, but from a deeper place.

He further said that the first sentence of the Bible is “let there be light.” I felt my light had been ignite by Eckhart and merged with the vast consciousness he described. Hopefully, the feeling of the connection can be more constant instead of just sparks happening occasionally. I am so grateful for the experience I had for the four days with Eckhart.

I am planning to have a program called “Every month a little awakening” with fellow beloved certified mindfulness meditation teacher, Willie Smyth!! I am looking forward to introducing that to all of you!!
